High elves have a bland, generalist roster made of generalist units.
Going to War can be confusing and distressing for the Defender of Ulthuan, and High Elf vs. Aside from a few pathetic Dark Elf trash factions that get cleaned up in <10 turns, you're stuck with a bunch of High Elves you're supposed to make nice with and Confederate over time. He starts on the bottom of an island infested with alleged allies. You're pretty much goddamn Darth Vader with an army of Stormtroopers and Star Destroyers Your starting harbor is mostly safe from the Pirate Doomstacks sailing the ocean. You start in a corner that is easy to defend and makes expansion easy, and you are diplomatically flexible with the people around you - Make war or peace as you see fit. However, their cavalry ride dinosaurs, which can be a bit finnicky. The roster also opens up to all sorts of colorful monsters, instead of just different flavors of Elf on Horse and Prismacolor Pigeon. Malekith himself is a powerful and flexible lord with great magic. You also have specialized units filling out a well-rounded roster, so you can really learn what's good for what.īlack Arks are floating cities that take a while to get going, but once they do, they're incredible for reinforcing your armies with magic, new recruits, and holding fresh reinforcements (Though you probably need a 'ferry lord' lategame to haul Blackguard from Naggaroth to the Arks Skaven are easy early-game fodder to get the basics down.
